Wait for us at the Rainbow Bridge
When dogs cross over and leave this earth it is said they will be waiting for us at the Rainbow Bridge. The dogs listed here are Australian Shepherds I owned as a young girl, dogs bred by Sliding S and dogs I owned and loved, but lost.
Our Aussies - Another Time, A New Chapter
Sliding S Dry Creek's Big Hoss
December 17, 2010 - February 14. 2017
Hoss was by Bart out of Skye. He was Tom's top hand on Dry Creek Ranch in MO., and best friend to Tom and Deana's children. Tom and Hoss went everywhere together. I loved hearing the stories about Hoss working cattle. His nickname in the feed lots was Corn Cob for the way he nipped the heels of cattle. He was an amazing cowdog. Hoss was lost in a tragic accident, in February of 2017.
Sliding S BlackNBlue Rendition OTDs STDc "Renn"
December 17, 2010 - January 6, 2016
Renn was a Bart X Skye pup owned by Armen and Eileen. She was well on her way to earning her WTCH when she became ill. Eileen always had the best stories to share about Renn. I will miss those calls. Renn passed in January of 2016.
Sliding S Painted Lakota "Tree"
December 17, 2010 - December 2012
Tree was by Bart out of Skye. This litter was bred partially for my friend Janet to have a pup. Janet took pride that she owned the very first Sliding S dog registered. Tree was named after the white tree mark on the nap of her neck. Tree's life was cut short by a tragic accident in December of 2012.
Our Aussies - The 60s, 70s and 80s
Apache was such a smart dog and so loving and loyal. I had trained him and used him as my demonstration dog in obedience when I taught. He was trained past open and I was getting ready to start competing when he passed away at 2.5 years old.
Twin Oaks Shadow
June 8, 1978 - August 3, 1985
Shadow was by Cripes Nimrod Royal Buckminster and out of Twin Oaks Swaps CDX. She was a quiet dog, very keen and eager to learn. She was my rock at a time that I really needed something solid. I recognize much of her in Shiloh. Shadow and I competed in a few conformation classes but mostly obedience. She was a half-sister to Shawnee. She passed in August of 1985.
Jessie James' Little Joe Dandy "Joe"
October 12, 1972 - January 5, 1979
Joe was the son of CH Tri-Ivory Yankee Dandy CDX and out of a ranch dog female Jessie James' Jody. He was such a cool dog and loved by everyone that met him. He was always doing his circus dog stuff. Jumps were his specialty. I also used him as a demo dog, competing in obedience trials. There are so many stories I could tell about "Joe". He passed in January of 1979.
Twin Oaks Shawnee CD
October 23, 1973 - May 1, 1977
Shawnee was by Twin Oaks Paiute and out of Twin Oaks Swaps CDX. One of my favorite things to do with her was obedience demos all in hand signals. I was just a teenager at the time and loved showing off at Jake Harvey's dog training school. She was my first obedience dog I competed with. She is in the pedigree of all my dogs. Shawnee passed in May of 1977.
Freckles was our families first Aussie I was only 5 years old. We had purchased him from Bob Offutt in Burson, Ca. Dad taught him to pull us on a skateboard, bow, sit pretty and a lot of other tricks. He was teaching him directions even thought at the time we had no stock to work but he used a pulley in the back yard and used Gee and Haw for commands. .
