We started Sliding S Aussies in 2009. Before then, we raised a few litters now and then, and I did some obedience training with my dogs back in the 1970s. My first registered Aussie was Twin Oaks Shawnee CD, and you can see Shawnee in the pedigree of all our dogs.
I’ve had Aussies since I was five years old. Ken came into the picture in 1980 and fell in love with the breed as well.
In 2004, we wanted a new pup, but Sherry would not sell the pup unless it was going to a home where it would work stock. That’s when I decided to take up lessons and try my hand at trialing. Before too long, we had sheep and ducks to work with, and I had been bitten by the trialing bug. It wasn’t until 2022, when Ken retired, that he decided he too needed a hobby and started trialing as well.
Our first litter as Sliding S was born to Skye, a female I had purchased from Francesca at Sweetgrass Aussies. This litter gave Skye the title of Hall of Fame Dam and produced a Supreme Champion Stockdog, one of only four in ASCA’s stockdog history. That would be “Oakley,” Grand Champion Stockdog Sliding S Land’s End Sure Shot DNA-VP.
To date, we are breeders of four Stockdog Champions: Oakley, Riddick, Sterling, and Nash. Oakley, so far, is our only Grand Champion Stockdog.
In the summer of 2013, we moved to Caldwell, Idaho, from Lodi, CA, and we continue to produce quality Working Australian Shepherds
We want a dog to be biddable, easy to live with, sociable and good tempered with a strong working ability on stock. We like the old style Aussie and want a healthy dog with good structure and movement.
Our dogs’ bloodlines are primarily Twin Oaks, Windsong, 45 Ranch and Slash V.
